DECADE Theme Preview: What Happened to Painting?
Day Four: Jeremy Blake’s Mod Lang, 2001

Jeremy Blake’s Mod Lang demonstrates how painting has been contemporized through the use of technology. For this work, Blake created a digitally animated painting that transforms into various abstract forms before the viewers’ eyes. This work is part of a larger project centered around a fictitious, brain-damaged character whose experiences are documented in the morphing forms and colors on the screen.
